You travel with Gordy.

I am Gordy. Most of last winter on the snow, above St. Johann, Kitzbühel, Saalbach and Zell am See. Then south, the way I have gone for thirty years: safari, fishing off the Mozambique coast, diving, rugby, and the run I love most, Cape Town down the Garden Route to Knysna. Whichever one you pick, you deal with me the whole way.

When you call, it is me picking up, in Tirol or in Africa.

Mozambique, October 2026

Every October I take a small group fishing off Mozambique.

This year it is a private fishing lodge south of Maputo, reached by jeep through the Maputo Special Reserve. Ten rooms, two deep sea boats, eight hours a day on the water, and a night of lobster, prawns and crab. Last year we fished off Vilanculos, and the marlin teased us all week. From one home to the other

Two homes, one guide. Winter in Tirol from December, then the dry season in the Lowveld from May. I plan both ends and I am on the ground for most of it.

A day with Gordy

From first light to last.

Trips differ. The shape of a day with me does not. This is a day in Africa, and I run an Austrian one the same way.

  1. First light

    I am up before you are.

    We start early, because the cool hours are the ones worth being awake for. The flasks come off the tailgate, nobody hurries, and then we go and see what the morning has.

  2. High sun

    The middle of a day is yours.

    Eat, sleep, read, swim, or ask me for something and I will go and arrange it. I am there when you want me and out of the way when you do not.

  3. Last light

    You come back to this.

    Two lanterns on the frame, ice in the bucket, the first drinks already poured. This is the hour the rest of the day is built around, and I have it standing before you get back.

  1. Asking commits you to nothing.

    Tell me what you have in mind. Nothing is fixed, and no money changes hands, until you say so.

  2. Ask once, and that is all.

    Four steps, about two minutes, and I will not add you to any mailing list.

  3. What I do not do myself.

    I stay honest about which trips I guide in person and which I hand to a friend who knows the ground better than I do.

Every enquiry comes to me directly, and I answer it myself.

What comes back is not a brochure. It is a first shape for the trip, in my own words, and then we talk it through.
